• Kia UK has announced its entry into the commercial vehicle market at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show, revealing plans for a new network of specialist PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) centres and launching its first fully electric van, the Kia PV5.

The PV5 will be available in both Cargo and Passenger models. Pre-orders opened on Thursday, 1st May 2025, with the first UK deliveries expected in Q4 2025. The Cargo version is priced from £27,645 (+VAT) and is eligible for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant, while the Passenger variant starts at £32,995 (OTR).

To support this launch, Kia is rolling out a dedicated PBV dealer network, beginning with 50 centres and expanding to 60 by the end of 2026. These centres will provide full sales, servicing, and support for PBV customers, with most operated by existing Kia partners experienced in commercial vehicles.

The PV5 Cargo is built on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S electric platform, offering advanced performance in range, charging, and practicality. Available in two body lengths, the van features up to 5.17m³ of cargo space, low loading heights, and a payload of up to 790kg. Two battery options (51.5kWh and 71.2kWh) offer ranges of up to 181 miles and 247 miles, respectively. Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes under 30 minutes with standard 150kW DC charging.

The Passenger version will initially launch in a 5-seat configuration and eventually expand to 7 seats, offering up to 249 miles of range. Other variants, including Crew, Chassis Cab, and a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), will follow.

All PV5 models include a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and 20,000-mile/two-year service intervals, providing long-term reliability and low running costs. Kia plans to sell 3,000–4,000 units in the first full year, targeting 17,000 units annually by 2030.

Paul Philpott, President & CEO of Kia UK, described the launch of Kia PBVs as the company’s most significant transformation since entering the UK market. He emphasized Kia’s success in the passenger car segment, with over 112,000 units sold in 2024, and expressed confidence in replicating that achievement in the commercial sector.
