• Honda has revealed its latest compact electric car, the Super-N Prototype, at the Japan Mobility Show. The new model marks an important step in Honda’s electric future, combining everyday usability with the brand’s trademark focus on driving enjoyment. It will launch first in Japan, with arrivals in Great Britain and selected Asian markets planned for 2026.

Built on the lightest platform in Honda’s N Series Kei car range, the Super-N Prototype blends striking design with a lightweight chassis for nimble, responsive handling. Originally shown as the Super EV Concept at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the production version builds on the excitement generated by Honda’s new generation of electric vehicles.

One of the standout features of the Super-N Prototype is its new BOOST Mode. This setting temporarily increases power output and introduces virtual multi-gear shifts through Active Sound Control, simulating the feel of a traditional petrol-powered car. Combined with special interior lighting and dedicated display animations, it aims to make driving more engaging and immersive.

Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile at Honda UK, said:

“The Super-N Prototype promises to offer a great entry point to Honda EV ownership when it arrives in our market next year. By bringing Honda’s fun-to-drive performance to a compact all-electric model, we believe this is a unique proposition and we are excited for people to experience it from 2026.”

While there are currently no confirmed plans to expand sales beyond Great Britain and Asia, the success of the Super-N will help guide Honda’s future approach to small EVs in Europe.

  • Honda has unveiled another key model in its next-generation lineup: the Prelude e:HEV. Returning to Europe after 25 years, the all-new hybrid coupe blends classic Honda driving spirit with advanced electrified technology, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to both performance and sustainability.

The sixth-generation Prelude takes design inspiration from the aerodynamics of gliders and offers an adaptive suspension system, derived from the Civic Type R.

Power comes from Honda’s advanced e:HEV full-hybrid powertrain, combining a 2.0-litre petrol engine with dual electric motors to deliver 184 PS (135 kW). The setup offers instant torque, responsive acceleration, and excellent fuel efficiency. Four driving modes: Comfort, GT, Sport, and Individual.

The Prelude also debuts Honda S+ Shift, a system designed to make hybrid driving more engaging. Using Active Sound Control and a simulated eight-speed transmission, it recreates the sensation of shifting through gears, complete with realistic rev-matching blips on downshifts.

Hans de Jaeger, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, said:

“The Prelude’s return has been eagerly anticipated by driving enthusiasts since we first revealed the concept in 2023. With its graceful design, advanced hybrid system, and Honda S+ Shift, both drivers and passengers will never want their journey to end.”
