- Nissan has unveiled the all-new third-generation JUKE, transforming its popular compact crossover into a fully electric model for the first time.
Revealed at the company’s Vision event in Japan, the new JUKE marks a major step in Nissan’s European electrification plans and will be built at Nissan Sunderland Plant.
Since launching in 2010, the JUKE has sold 1.5 million units across Europe and helped define the compact crossover segment with its bold styling. Nissan says the latest version retains that character while introducing a zero-emission powertrain.
The all-electric JUKE will sit on Nissan’s CMF-EV platform and join an expanding EV range that includes the new Nissan Micra, third-generation Nissan Leaf, Nissan Ariya and Nissan Townstar. Nissan also confirmed a new A-segment EV is in development.
The JUKE EV will feature Vehicle-to-Grid technology, allowing owners to feed energy back into the grid, mirroring technology already planned for the new LEAF.
Alongside its EV push, Nissan said it will continue offering hybrid models powered by its e-POWER system, including the Nissan Qashqai e-POWER and Nissan JUKE HEV.
Massimiliano Messina, Chairman of Nissan AMIEO, said Europe remains central to the company’s electrification strategy, while Clíodhna Lyons, Vice President for Product, Brand and Marketing Strategy, said the new JUKE brings the model’s convention-challenging spirit into the electric age.
- Volkswagen has revealed the all-new ID.3 Neo, replacing the existing ID.3 with a heavily updated electric hatchback featuring fresh styling, improved technology and a claimed range of up to 391 miles.
Designed around Volkswagen’s “True Volkswagen” philosophy, the ID.3 Neo receives a redesigned front end with a full-width light bar and illuminated badge, alongside revised proportions intended to give the hatchback a lower and more dynamic appearance
Inside, Volkswagen says the cabin has been significantly upgraded with higher-quality materials, a new dashboard layout and improved controls. A 10.25-inch digital instrument display is paired with a 12.9-inch central touchscreen running the latest Innovision infotainment system
The ID.3 Neo is offered with three power outputs: 170PS, 190PS and 231PS, matched to 50kWh, 58kWh or 79kWh battery packs. The largest battery delivers the headline 391-mile WLTP range, while DC rapid charging speeds of up to 183kW are available on higher-capacity versions
New technology includes one-pedal driving, vehicle-to-load capability allowing the battery to power external devices up to 3.6kW, and upgraded driver assistance systems such as Connected Travel Assist with traffic light recognition.
The new model makes its world debut in Wolfsburg, with order books opening across Germany and other European markets on 16 April. UK pricing and specifications will be confirmed at a later date
