BMW has revealed the new BMW i3, the second model in its Neue Klasse line-up. The i3 50 xDrive features dual electric motors with all-wheel drive, producing a combined 345 kW (469 hp) and 645 Nm of torque. It uses sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology with 800-volt architecture and a new battery design.
The car offers a WLTP range of up to 559 miles. DC fast charging supports up to 400 kW, allowing up to 249 miles of range to be added in 10 minutes. The i3 also supports bidirectional charging, including vehicle-to-load, vehicle-to-home, and vehicle-to-grid functions.
The model introduces BMW’s new electronics and software architecture, including the “Heart of Joy” control system and Panoramic iDrive interface. Assisted driving features are updated under BMW Symbiotic Drive.
In terms of design, the i3 follows a new 2.5-box sedan layout with a long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a sloping roofline. It features an updated front-end design combining the grille and headlights, along with horizontal rear lighting and widened wheel arches. The interior is designed to maximise space and focuses on a driver-oriented layout.
Production will take place at BMW’s Munich plant starting in August 2026, with first deliveries expected from autumn 2026.
