HMRC has published new advisory fuel rates (AFRs), effective from 1st June 2026.

Petrol and diesel reimbursement rates have increased across all engine sizes, while LPG rates have also risen compared with the previous quarter.

Available at the Comcar AFRs page, Petrol AFRs are now 14 pence per mile (ppm) for engines up to 1,400cc, 17ppm for engines between 1,401–2,000cc, and 26ppm for engines over 2,000cc.

Diesel rates have also increased, rising to 15ppm for engines up to 1,600cc, 17ppm for 1,601–2,000cc, and 23ppm for engines above 2,000cc.

LPG rates are now 11ppm for vehicles up to 1,400cc, 13ppm for engines between 1,401–2,000cc, and 21ppm for vehicles over 2,000cc.

HMRC previously split the advisory electric rate (AER) between home and public charging when rates were updated from 1st September 2025, introducing a higher reimbursement rate for drivers using the public charging network.

For the quarter starting 1 June 2026, the home charging rate remains unchanged at 7ppm, while the public charging rate also remains at 15ppm.
