Third generation Kia Sorento
Six versions of the new Sorento are available at launch spanning four trims. The four trim levels include KX-1, KX-2, KX-3 and top-of-the-range KX-4. Depending on the trim, buyers have the choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission - manual only for the KX-1, manual and auto for the KX-2 and KX-3 and auto only for the KX-4.
All versions of the new Sorento are powered by an EU6-compliant 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine that is more fuel efficient and reduces running costs for personal and business owners. This new engine produces 3hp more than its predecessor, raising the output of the engine to 197hp and 441Nm of torque, which has also increaed by 19Nm. Performance has been improved all round too with the vehicle being capable of accelerating from rest to 62mph in just 9 seconds for manual transmission vehicles and 9.6 for the automatics. Both transmissions are capable of reaching a max speed of 124mph. The lower fuel consumption and emissions of the new Sorento sit at 49.6mpg with CO2 of 149g/km for the manual transmissions (KX-1) while the automatic transmissions have respective figures of 42.2 and 177g/km. As before, the all-new Sorento comes with all-wheel drive on all versions which has been revised for this model. The interior continues to encompasses seven seats.
Dimensions for the new Sorento are larger than its predecessor with length and width both increased. The ride height is lower and the wheelbase has been extended to create greater room within all three rows of seats. Along with these changes, Kia have introduced several safety features to the Sorento which include items such as Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Around View Monitoring, Adaptive Front Lighting and Speed Limit Information.
While the new Sorento doesn't have the lowest of CO2 emissions to appeal to company car drivers, the KX-1 version only has a BiK band of 25%. This rises to 31% for the automatic transmission variants.
